A wildfire prevention program in California is set to bolster the timber supply here in Crook County, according to an announcement made by the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) last week. The toughest winter in a while might have been easier on Crook County's ranchers if it hadn't come on the heels of several years of drought. "Cold and snow is a problematic thing, whether you're talking for calving or just wintering cattle and yearlings," says Wade Crawford of Crook County Veterinary Service. Terrence King, 85, of Aladdin, Wyoming, passed away March 3, 2023 at the Garden Hills Assisted Living in Spearfish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Rose King; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and George Bean. He is survived by his brothers, Dennis King and Michael King both of Aladdin; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives. His request was cremation and no funeral service will be honored. Kenneth "Ken" Howard, 73 of Aladdin, Wyoming, passed away at his home on February 27, 2023 surrounded by his wife and children. Ken was born on March 23, 1949 to Kenneth Howard and Anna Maddox in Hamilton, Ohio. He was the youngest of three children. After graduating from Lakota High School in 1967 he continued to farm on his family farm. In 1970, Ken married Sandra Arnold at Bethany Church. Ken and Sandra went on to have three children. Funeral Mass for Lorraine Loh, 94, of Dickinson, North Dakota was Friday, March 3, 2023 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Thomas Richter as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Henry's cemetery in Regent. Lorraine passed away February 27, 2023 surrounded by family at St. Luke's Home in Dickinson. Shirley Jean (Larive) Frasier enjoyed her last day on this earth on March 3, 2023. Shirley was born on May 1, 1937, the youngest of 13 children to Arthur and Tillie (Lloyd) Larive. She attended schools in Sundance, Wyoming, Rapid City, South Dakota, Deadwood, South Dakota and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1955.
