The Sundance Winter Festival for 2021 has been cancelled due to a lack of snow. The mild weather this area has experienced so far this winter season is unfortunately not helpful when it comes to building ski joring and bar stool courses. A county resident led law enforcement on two high speed chases in the space of one evening on the weekend. William Hamilton was eventually arrested after reports of a disturbance at a county residence led to him allegedly fleeing from police for several hours. Sadie Louise Sperb, age 90 of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away January 28, 2021, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living. Sadie was born April 8, 1930, to Elmer and Bertha Queen at Sundance, Wyoming. She spent her early years at the Barton Ranch near Sundance. Sadie married Paul Sperb June 3, 1950; they were married for 59 years. The Board of Trustees has agreed to offer a proposal that would allow Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD) to lease space inside the new Hulett clinic in exchange for a contribution towards the building’s expenses. We started our virtual session on January 12, gaveling in for a one-day start on the session. Bills were read in and assigned to committees and then we gaveled in with our committees, meeting virtually on January 19,20 and 21. The bills were all interim committee bills. Crook County is among 18 school districts across the state that posted graduation rates above 90% this year. The district falls at number 14 on the statewide list with a rate of 91.6%. Overall across the state, the Wyoming Department of Education announced last week that high school graduation rates have been improving for the last seven years. In-person and online courses for home cooks and managers of canned food processing operations around the region will be hosted by the University of Wyoming Extension.
