    The Sundance Bulldogs varsity boys' cross country team won the Irrigator Invitational in Newell, SD. on Fri., Sept. 15. The Bulldogs crossed the finish line with three top-ten finishes in the competition, including a first-place finish. Senior Deklan Gill won the varsity 5000-meter run in his season-best time of 18:54.38.     The Bulldog Cross Country team competed in its third contest Thurs., Sept. 8 in the Belle Fourche Invitational in Belle Fouche, SD.  The Bulldog’s tackled a challenging course, with improved race times and new goals for the upcoming competitions.  Senior Deklan Gill competed in a time of 19:55.55, while teammate and junior Angel Villegas ran in 20:32.64.     The Sundance Bulldogs Cross Country team competed in the Mile High Preview Meet in Lead, SD on Aug. 29.  With a preview meet, runners competed in shorter distances, yet competed with top athletes in the area. Five Bulldogs competed in the men’s 4000-meter varsity race. Junior Angel Villegas finished in 12th place with a time of 15:42.63.     The Sundance Bulldogs ended their cross country season with a sixth-place finish at the 2A State Cross Country Championships in Ethete on Oct. 22.  Six runners competed in the race, with perfect running weather.  Sophomore Angel Villegas finished in the top 20 with a time of 19:56.20.     The Sundance High School Bulldog Cross Country team set new personal records for the third week in a row, as the team finished out its regular season competing in the 2A Powder River Conference meet.  Sophomore Angel Villegas placed eighth, running the 5000-meter race in a personal best of 19:26.     The Sundance Bulldogs found more success at the Wayne Chaney Invite in Gillette Oct. 7. The Bulldog runners competed in the junior varsity 5k race. Angel Villegas finished in 20:18.63 earning a third-place finish. Wyatt Flahaven ran a state-qualifying time of 20:43.60, placing ninth.     The Sundance Bulldog Cross Country team competed in the Brittany Rentas Memorial Invite in Wright on Friday, Sept. 30 after a three-week break from competition.
